Rutgers Executive Leadership Program for Women
Five Month Executive Development Program for an Elite Cadre of Women Leaders from across the Fortune 500

Unit 1: Leadership Essentials
Intensive In-Person Training (2.5 Days)

Current State of Women’s Leadership


• Panel of women executives providing insight on career turning points and driving transformative change

• Overview of latest research findings on women’s achievement, leadership challenges, successful development strategies and gender dynamics in organizations




• Building Essential Capabilities
– Visionary Leadership
– Defining your leadership stand: vision and value proposition

• Adaptive Leadership
– Leadership preference assessment and training; self-awareness, understanding differences, expanding influence, flexible communications

• Engaged Leadership
– Mindfulness, stress management and self-regulation for turbulent times

• Connected Leadership
– Mapping strategic allies, potential mentors and sponsors to increase influence, exposure and advancement
– The leader as coach: Success Circles® peer mentoring training

Unit 2: Leadership in Action
Coaching and Peer Mentoring (5 Months)

• Participants tackle and resolve key real time leadership issues through in-depth coaching and mentoring

• 6 individualized executive coaching sessions to track progress, gain new skills and test solutions

• 4 Success Circles® peer mentoring sessions to hone coaching and leadership skills while drawing upon peer expertise

– Individualized assessment of leadership preferences
– Collecting and analyzing 360 feedback
– Executive leadership plans
– Building capabilities with real world applications
– Delivery on action plans

Unit 3: Emergent Leadership Issues
Virtual Summits (Months 2 and 4) and Online Community

• Topics are customized for the cohort group based on progress in their Success Circles®. These are addressed during the virtual summits hosted by leadership experts.

• Membership in innovative online community of classmates and coaches to share resources, insights and ideas throughout the program


Unit 4: Taking Your Leadership Stand
Intensive In-Person Training (2.5 Days)

• Leadership Identity and Presence

– Presence training; leadership as performance
– Status dynamics, gender challenges and cultural barriers
– Executive storytelling

• Change Leadership
– Leading in a VUCA world

• Active Leadership
– Success Circles® graduation with read out of key insights collected by group over the 5 month program
– Action plans to carry leadership forward

• Graduation
– Leadership presentation and dinner with program sponsors, mentors and invited guests
