 Over the last several decades, implicit bias has waned in every category, from race to sexual orientation, except one – body size. UNSHRINKING: How to Face Fatphobia examines how anti-fatness operates, intersects with other systems of oppression, and leads to devastating assumptions about a person’s attractiveness, fortitude, and intellect. This book proposes a new politics of “body reflexivity” – a radical reevaluation of who our bodies exist in the world for: ourselves and no one else. Author Kate Manne will join Dr. Roxane Gay, the Gloria Steinem Endowed Chair in Media, Culture and Feminist Studies, for a reading and conversation about UNSHRINKING.
