CWAH Dance and Philosophy Lectures seek to support continued expansion of dance as both an art practice and an embodied form of creative research that is also embedded in the humanities. Dr. Fraleigh is Professor Emerita at the Dance Department at SUNY-Brockport where she was Chair for nine years, Head of Graduate Studies and a Faculty Exchange Scholar throughout the SUNY system. She is the author of nine books including Dance and the Lived Body, Dancing into Darkness: Butoh, Zen and Japan and, most recently, Back to the Dance Itself: Phenomenologies of the Body in Performance, among others.
